Regional Identity
In England there is a theroretical divid between the North and the South of England
In the Media the northeners are seen as poor but "Hard", where as the southeners are seen as Rich but"Softer" than the northeners. Also mosty of the Media in the UK is made in the South this then gives the South a biast approch to the North.
In the county of Essex the women have stereotypes of being stupid and fake (e.g.boobs and tanned all year). The males have a similar stereotype e.g. glammed up all the time, inheriting lots of money their parents to buy expensive cars, houses. These stereotypes can be seen in the tv series The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE). In the media kent is seen as the posh part of England, but it is the most populated county in the whole UK. this is seen in towns such as Tumbridge Wells. Kent has the larges under 16 pregnacncy rate in the uk, as well as having one of the highest STD ratings in the UK, this contraces with the posh steriotype.
Citys like liverpool there are steriotypes of crime, football crazy fans, high levels of crime and eveyone has liverpudlien accents. Another sterotype of liverpool is that its filled with "Chavs"this is true because it the level of "Chavs" exceeds all of cities. In Merseyside there are stereotypes of the scouser, the unemployed and the people with large familys with different familys. these can be shown in the tv show Shameless.
